Orange Line
The Lahore Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) is Pakistan’s first automated rapid transit system, inaugurated on October 25, 2020. Spanning approximately 27.1 kilometers, the line features 26 stations—24 elevated and 2 underground—connecting Ali Town to Dera Gujran. Designed to accommodate over 250,000 passengers daily, the OLMT has significantly enhanced urban mobility in Lahore.
Key Features:
Route and Stations: The OLMT traverses major thoroughfares, including Multan Road, McLeod Road, and GT Road. Notable stations along the route include Anarkali, GPO, Shalamar Gardens, and the University of Engineering and Technology.
Rolling Stock: The system operates 27 trains, each comprising five cars manufactured by China’s CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive. These driverless trains are powered by a 750-volt third rail and can reach speeds up to 80 km/h.
Infrastructure: The line includes a depot at Dera Gujran, housing the operation control center and maintenance workshops, and a stabling yard at Ali Town for minor repairs and parking.
